Chester County Hospital One of Only 44 Hospitals in State to Receive a Top Grade in Patient Safety
Chester County Hospital is one of only 44 hospitals in Pennsylvania to receive an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group, an organization based in Washington, D.C., that aims to improve healthcare quality and safety, according to a report in the Daily Local News.
“To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board members, staff, volunteers, and clinicians who work so hard to earn this A.”
“This recognition exemplifies the hard work the hospital’s care teams, medical staff, and nurses do each day,” said Michael Duncan, Chester County Hospital’s president and CEO. “They dedicate their lives to their patients and make safety a No. 1 priority.”
In 2020, Chester County Hospital will complete a 250,000-square-foot expansion and 26,000-square-foot renovation plan. The project will include 15 state-of-the-art operating rooms, three high-tech labs for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology, and new areas for interventional cardiology and pre-admission testing.
The expansion will also include a 99-bed tower featuring private patient rooms for peaceful healing, an expanded Emergency Department with 13 additional rooms for expedited care, a new community pharmacy, calming public spaces and interior courtyard, and additional dining and shopping options in the new café bistro and gift shop.
“Chester County Hospital is expanding to continue to meet the community’s expectations and needs,” said Duncan.
