For the record, Kennett Square’s Mushroom Festival came in second behind New Hampshire’s Keene Pumpkin Festival in USA Today’s Best Specialty Foods Festival contest results published in August.
The Whoopie Pie Festival hosted every September in nearby Strasburg, Lancaster County took a respectable forth place in the same contest behind Traverse City, Michigan’s popular National Cherry Festival.
Pennsylvania is the only state to place two festivals in USA Today’s Best Specialty Food Festival ranking.
