In a recent interview, critically acclaimed filmmaker Brad Ingelsby spoke about the future of the Delco-centered hit shows Task and Mare of Easttown, writes Kevin P. Sullivan for Gold Derby

Competing with Sunday night football and lacking the murder mystery that Mare brought to the table, it took some time for Task to find its footing when it first released.

While its debut had lower ratings compared to Mare of Easttown, the show gradually picked up an audience and became one of the best-reviewed shows by the final episode.

When developing the story for Task season two, Ingelsby discussed the appeal of further exploring Tom Brandis, Mark Ruffalo’s character, and his role as a father. The new season serves as an opportunity to include often unexplored topics with “emotion” and “nuance.”

Mahershala Ali has also joined the cast, and Ingelsby noted that he took inspiration from the play All My Sons for his character, exploring some of the themes related to its protagonist Joe Keller.

As for the future of Mare of Easttown

“I’ve talked to Kate [Winslet] about a second season, and I know she has an appetite to do it. I really do believe we will do another season of Mare,” he said. “I don’t know about a crossover… If there’s an opportunity in the future, I’d be open to doing it. I don’t know what it would look like, but never say never.”
