Can’t-Miss May Events Happening in Chester County

From beloved festivals to holiday parades, May events throughout Chester County are the perfect way to celebrate the spring.

A packed lineup of May events is bringing springtime fun to Chester County, writes Gina Lizzo for Main Line Today.

Here are four upcoming events where you can celebrate the season with friends and family.

Phoenixville Dogwood FestivalPhoenixville. Set for May 13 through May 16, this festival honors a historic dogwood tree planted in Reeves Park in memory of World War II veterans. The present-day festival attracts 50,000 attendees for its carnival rides, games, and parade, the last of which begins at 1 PM on the 16th.

Radnor Hunt RacesMalvern. On May 16, the 95th year of this annual steeplechase race will kick off with Pony Races at 11 AM. This year’s event also marks the Brandywine Conservancy’s last year as the race beneficiary. Tickets are required, and guests are encouraged to wear their best race attire.

Devon Horse Show & Country FairDevon. The beloved horse show and county fair will return for its annual run from May 20 through May 31. Enjoy amusement rides, carnival games, shopping from dozens of vendors, and of course, a lineup of stellar carriage and horse races.

Kennett Square Memorial Day Parade—Kennett Square. Wrap up the month with Kennett’s Memorial Day parade, set for May 25. This year’s parade will honor the nationwide America250 celebrations with special festivities, including service members and Revolutionary War re-enactments.
