On April 29, ChesPenn Health Services joined fellow Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) in Harrisburg for a day of advocacy alongside the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers (PACHC) — bringing the realities of underserved communities directly to the people who make policy decisions.
ChesPenn President and CEO Susan Harris-McGovern and Chief Operating Officer Elide Marquez-Romero represented the organization at press conferences and advocacy sessions, meeting with Pennsylvania House Representatives Gina H. Curry and Carol Kazeem. The conversations centered on what’s at stake for patients who depend on community health centers for primary care, behavioral health, dental care, women’s health, pediatrics, and other essential services that might otherwise be out of reach.
For ChesPenn, showing up in Harrisburg isn’t just about policy; it’s about the patients behind every line item. Advocacy work like this ensures that lawmakers understand the critical role community health centers play in keeping families healthy and communities strong. When health center voices go unheard, the consequences are felt in waiting rooms, exam rooms, and kitchen tables across Chester and Delaware County.
