Thena Hotel in Center City Goes Up for Sale

The Thena Hotel, a nine-room hotel in Center City, is on the market for the first time since 2021 with an asking price of $2.62 million.

Thena Hotel, a boutique property in Center City, has been put up for sale with an asking price listed at $2.62 million, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Currently owned by RTE Properties, this is the first time the hotel has been put up for sale since the Philadelphia-based firm acquired it for $1.5 million in August 2021.

Michael Phillips of Compass Commercial, who has the listing along with fellow team leader Kelly Widman, said that the hotel will remain open while it’s being marketed for sale.

He added that the Thena Hotel will likely benefit greatly from the many events set to take place in the city this summer. In fact, the hotel is already being booked for the nation’s 250th birthday celebrations.

“It’s not just a one-time thing,” Phillips said. “We feel like there’s some really great momentum for this subset of the market and this building specifically.”

The Thena Hotel has nine rooms across four floors, with a kitchenette.

The property dates back to 1974, having served as an office building prior to being converted into the Thena Hotel.

A buyer has opportunities to improve the hotel’s design and design or increase total occupancy.
