Coatesville’s relatively new restaurant, The Hungry Pilot, offers residents a dining experience like no other, writes Natalie Jason for 6abc.
The restaurant is located in the Chester County Airport with direct views of the runway. Visitors can watch takeoffs and landings while enjoying a wide range of delicious menu items.
Large windows and a sixty-seat patio ensure all patrons can get a glimpse of the airport action. Owner Lucas McMahon shared that visitors have even left their seats to get a closer look at the airplanes from the lawn.
McMahon, a first-time restauranteur, started the business with his family, including his father Bob, wife Katie, and his siblings. The family had always hoped to own a business together, a dream they accomplished with the opening of The Hungry Pilot in 2024.
The space offers residents a perfect local gathering spot with a welcoming atmosphere and expansive menu.
Menu items include comfort classics like smashburgers, flatbreads, and pub-style sandwiches. Fan-favorite items include the Kennett Square mushroom bisque and the smoked Old Fashioned cocktail.
Additionally, on top of the menu, nine large television screens make the restaurant ideal for game days. A rotating calendar of events includes weekly trivia and bingo nights, making the new restaurant the perfect stop for travelers and locals alike.
