Baa! The sheep are losing their winter wool, and everyone is invited to the shearing.
On Saturday, May 2, Chester County Parks + Preservation will host its annual Sheep + Wool Day from 11 AM to 3 PM at Springton Manor Farm in Glenmoore.
The herd’s shearing, which is the highlight of the event, will be ongoing throughout the day.
Attendees can enjoy food trucks, fleece spinning and weaving demonstrations, as well as activities for kids like inflatables, face painting, and wagon rides.
Penn State Extension’s 4-H clubs and the Indian Run Environmental Center will host animal education programs.
Springton Manor Farm’s Great Barn will also be open, showcasing the county’s agricultural history. Additionally, the Friends of Springton Manor Farm group will be hosting kid-friendly crafts and raffle baskets.
Sheep + Wool Day will be held even in light rain. Except for service animals, pets are not permitted for the safety of the livestock.
Parking will be available at Springton Manor Elementary School at 400 Fairview Road. Free buses from the school will be provided. Limited parking, including handicap and vendor parking, will be available at the farm. The event and parking are free.
