A recent evaluation by USA Today honored the world-renowned Longwood Gardens as the second-best botanical garden in America, writes staff for USA Today.

One of Chester County’s most beloved tourist attractions, Longwood earned the no. 2 spot on USA Today’s “10 Best” list. A team of experts nominated American botanical gardens for the list, and readers voted on the ranking.

Longwood ranked second only to the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden in the evaluation.

Recognized for its diverse plant collection, architecture, scenic views, and rotating calendar of events, Longwood Gardens offers truly unique experiences that make it one of the country’s most visited gardens. Visitors can enjoy indoor and outdoor displays, fountain shows, educational programming, and upscale dining all in one place.

The gardens are housed in the longtime Kennett Square estate of the du Pont family, who boast a long tradition of gardening.

Pierre du Pont purchased the land in 1906. The next century would see the construction of the main conservatory, the winding trails and water garden, and the growth of the gardens’ globally recognized conservation work.

Today, locals and tourists alike can enjoy all that Longwood has to offer through ticketed visits and events. The Winter Wonder display is currently on view through March 22, and spring will kick off with the Spring Blooms display beginning March 27.
