Erik Walschburger Takes Over as Chester County’s Top Administrator

Left, David Byerman, former Chester County CEO, and right, newly appointed leader Erik Walschburger.

Erik Walschburger has been named the new Chester County administrator after David Byerman stepped down from the county’s CEO position on Monday, writes Brooke Schultz for The Philadelphia Inquirer

Walschburger assumes the role of the county’s top administrator after serving as deputy county administrator since 2022. He brings more than 15 years of county government experience to the position. In his previous role, he oversaw the day-to-day internal operations.

Before joining the administrative side, he worked in the district attorney’s office, where he prosecuted criminal cases, directed diversionary programs, prepared grants, and defended convictions on appeal.

County staff were informed of Walschburger’s appointment through an email from the commissioners. The email further indicated that Megan Moser, who was appointed chief experience officer last year, will be continuing her responsibilities under the new designation of deputy county administrator.

“We look forward to working with the entire leadership team — and all of you — to establish and sustain a culture of collaboration and mutual support as we continue to provide the highest quality services to the residents of Chester County,” said the commissioners in the email.
