MLB Plans to Invest Millions in Philadelphia Communities for 2026 All-Star Weekend

MLB is planning to go all-out for the 2026 MLB All-Star Weekend in Philadelphia, as it will be connected to the 250th birthday of America.

In 2019, the MLB did something it doesn’t typically do in announcing the host city of its All-Star Game seven years in advance.

Knowing that 2026 is the 250th birthday of America, the league knew there was an opportunity there that it could not miss, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“We put All-Star Games on at our 30 ballparks across decades, but we never are able to necessarily connect to something as rich as [the 250th],” said MLB Senior Vice President of Global Events Jeremiah Yolkut.

In addition to events at Independence Mall and Citizens Bank Park, there will also be an All-Star Village fan experience inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Yolkut said the All-Star Village will have “that Philadelphia neighborhood vibe” and league will seek to put on events outside the South Philadelphia Sports Complex “that resonate as iconic Philly and [tie] into the 250th.”

Beyond the various events, MLB is also planning to invest millions of dollars into local communities and projects that will aim to leave a lasting impact on the city.

MLB All-Star Weekend 2026 is set to occur from July 11-14, 2026.

The weekend will create several hundred short-term jobs and opportunities for residents and vendors.
