Sheetz Sets Opening Date for Long-Awaited Limerick Location

Sheetz will open its new Limerick Township location Feb. 12, bringing jobs and a fresh rivalry with nearby Wawa.

The wait is almost over for Sheetz fans in Montgomery County, writes Justin Heinze for Patch.

The new location in Limerick Township is now scheduled to open on Febuary 12, marking one of the brand’s most visible moves yet into traditional Wawa territory.

Township officials approved the project last summer, and construction has steadily progressed since ground broke in August. The brick-style building is already standing, with interior work largely in place, while construction continues on the gas station portion of the site. Once open, the store is expected to create about 50 new local jobs.

The location itself adds fuel to the long-running Sheetz-Wawa rivalry. The store sits at the busy intersection of Ridge Pike and Swamp Pike, just down the road from an existing Wawa and near the well-known Limerick Diner, making it a highly visible and competitive corner.

While Sheetz has expanded as far east as the Outer Banks, the Limerick store represents one of its closest moves yet toward the Philadelphia suburbs. Additional expansion is already planned, with another Sheetz approved for Downingtown, though that site isn’t expected to open until 2026.

For Limerick residents, the February opening signals both new jobs and a fresh chapter in one of Pennsylvania’s most passionate convenience store rivalries.
