Chester County Futures recently hosted an enriching session for high school students in its after-school program, featuring insights from Anthony Fosu, the Admissions Officer at Dartmouth College.
The event aimed to enhance post-secondary readiness by demystifying the college admissions process and equipping students with essential knowledge and tools.
During this interactive session, students in grades 9-12 engaged directly with Fosu to gain a firsthand understanding of what colleges seek beyond academic scores — insights into personal essays that resonate and extracurricular activities that demonstrate genuine passion were shared. Students also received guidance on managing key deadlines effectively.
“I spent time with the students at CCF talking about the college admissions process, how to stand out in our holistic process, and what institutions like Dartmouth are looking for in that process,” stated Fosu. “The students were excited to learn about opportunities that colleges and universities offer, and I was glad to see those students. I saw myself in them, and that made me make visiting CCF a priority during my recruitment travel. I participated in a program much like CCF when I was in high school, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my community and with folks that made me aware of how college can positively impact my professional and personal trajectory.”
