Longwood Gardens Set to Reopen Popular Holiday Display with Gemstone Theme

A Longwood Christmas will return on November 21, featuring glittering trees, glowing lights, and enchanting festive gardens.

A Longwood Christmas, Longwood Gardens’ beloved holiday display, will return on Nov. 21, featuring glittering trees, glowing lights, and enchanting festive gardens, according to a staff report from the PhillyVoice

This year’s theme, A Gem of a Holiday Season, will transform the conservatories at the historic Kennett Square estate with jewel-toned colors and sparkling details. Trees in shades of blue, red, green, and gold will glow amid crystal ornaments, rich fabrics, and gemstone-inspired lighting.

The music room will feature a 12-foot tree topped with a sweeping ruby-red bow rising from a jewelry box, surrounded by mirrors and metallic accents that reflect the light.

Mineral specimens from the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science offer a natural touch, while other rooms feature living wreaths, poinsettias, and hanging baskets of winter blooms.

More than 500,000 lights will illuminate the outside gardens, with highlights to include sparkling trees and floating gem shapes shimmering across the Large Lake.

Visitors can also enjoy the returning Meadow Tunnel of Lights and the charming Garden Railway, along with daily fountain shows set to holiday music and there will be lively performances by carolers and musicians throughout the gardens on select nights.
