Abrams Realty Updates Exton Square Mall Redevelopment Plan

Abrams Realty & Development updated its Exton Square Mall redevelopment plan to include more open space and a central street.

Abrams Realty & Development has updated its Exton Square Mall redevelopment plan to include more open space as well as a central main street, writes Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal

The developer spent the past month reevaluating its plans after receiving feedback from West Whiteland Township during a July planning commission meeting, which suggested allocating more of the 75-acre property as open space.

The project is back on the agenda for the planning commission this week, and Peter Abrams and architect Barton Partners believe the revised layout works much better.

“It’s going to be freaking spectacular,” said Abrams.

The plans now include a main street that could be closed to vehicles for farmers’ markets, an activity terrace with a stage for various performances, and a grass median along the main street. The design also features open areas big enough for residents to play frisbee.

“We’ve been able to continue to really make it a better project by addressing the things that come up at these meetings,” said Abrams.

The plan must be approved by the commission before advancing to the board of supervisors.
