Spring City-Based Longstreth Sporting Goods Stages Inaugural All-American Field Hockey Game in Conshohocken

Spring City-based Longstreth Sporting Goods, a longtime supporter of women’s sports, recently staged its inaugural field hockey Senior All-American Game at the Proving Grounds in Conshohocken, writes Sidney Snider for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

The retail store, which has been a community staple since 1986, specializes in field hockey equipment.

“Our mission is to support women’s sports,” said Longstreth CEO John Schaefer. “We want a younger player to feel special when they come into our store and see that everything there is just for them, not have to worry about guys’ football helmets or shoulder pads or people that don’t know much about women’s sports.”

The store has now branched out into a new side of women’s athletics with a game that featured 45 of the top field hockey players nationwide in the Class of 2025.

Ahead of the game, athletes attended a leadership seminar led by coaches and members of the U.S. Women’s National Field Hockey Team. Visiting professional players included Kealsie Reeb, Jillian Wolgemuth, and Brooke DeBerdine.

The players were then divided into Team North and Team South, with the former made up largely of Pennsylvania natives.
