West Chester Couple Embodies Devotion With 53 Years as Eagles Season Ticket Holders

Elizabeth and Rod Lukens of West Chester are the definition of true Eagles fans, now entering their 53rd year as loyal season ticket holders, writes Dave Uram for KYW Newsradio

“Well, it’s a way of life,” said Elizabeth. “We interrupt this family for football season. Everything revolves around football.”

The couple, both in their seventies, have been Eagles supporters since childhood. Elizabeth even said she has been a fan since birth.

Rod remembers his trips to Franklin Field as a kid and huddling in the grocery store to listen to the 1960 NFL Championship between the Eagles and Packers.

Even their love story began while watching a Birds game in the late 1960s.

They first got their season tickets in 1973, on the legendary 700 Level at Veterans Stadium. Over the years, they moved to the 600 Level and now have four seats in the Linc’s upper deck.

The Lukens are extremely superstitious and follow a strict pregame routine they never miss. They stay connected to the team throughout the entire week and have no plans to give up their seats any time soon.
