DRK MTTR Offers Monochrome Vintage Shopping in West Chester

Owner Courtney McGee makes vintage shopping accessible and universal with DRK MTTR's stock of size-inclusive all-black clothing.

One of the most innovative vintage shops in the Philadelphia region is local to Chester County, writes Alex Tewfik and Kristen Schott for Philadelphia Magazine.

DRK MTTR, a clothing shop in West Chester, offers both contemporary and vintage clothing with a unique twist: every item available in the shop is black.

DRK MTTR features clothing, accessories, and shoes for all genders. The shop holds an annual one-day Color Day Sale, held on Black Friday.

Owner Courtney McGee seeks high-quality clothing items with a unique flare in a diverse range of sizes. McGee shared that she strives to curate a clean, organized energy throughout the space, with minimalistic interiors inspired by art galleries and visual art.

In its first year of business, the shop has relied mainly on word-of-mouth for advertising. With no online sales, McGee shared that her biggest challenge so far has been coping with weather when it comes to in-person shopping.

But despite any challenges, McGee’s main goals with the shop are universality and accessibility. She intentionally offers products at various price points and personal styles to ensure there is something for everyone at DRK MTTR.
