Crozer Health will start shutting down this week, writes Alex Rose for the Daily Times.
“Today, Prospect Medical Holdings made the extremely difficult decision to begin winding down operations across our Crozer Health facilities,” said Paul Rundell, chief restructuring officer for Prospect, Crozer Health’s owner.
Rundell said efforts to prevent Crozer Health’s closure were unsuccessful.
“At this time, the focus at Crozer Health remains on seamlessly transitioning patients to other health facilities so that they can continue to receive the critical, uninterrupted care they require, and to support Crozer Health team members as they seek to identify other employment opportunities,” he said.
Full closure of the two hospitals, Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital, are expected to be completed within 30 days.
An email sent by EMS Chief Chuck Snyder stated that emergency departments at both hospitals will stop taking emergency department patients Wednesday morning.
An employee in the Crozer system also received a text indicating 1,908 employees at CCMC will be permanently terminated, along with 351 employees at Taylor Hospital, 45 at CCMC behavioral health, 88 at Crozer’s corporate offices, 126 at Crozer-Springfield Hospital, 53 at the Springfield offices, and 80 at two other office locations.
