Malvern architectural firm Period Architecture has helped a Chester County couple build their dream home in Marshallton, writes Eileen Smith Dallabrida for The Hunt.
Homeowners Karen and Michael D’Allaird were inspired by the European countryside when designing their home. With the assistance of Period Architecture, the pair were able to make their vision a reality.
Spanning 5,800 square feet, the newly built estate features arched doorways, large windows, and two fireplaces. The home also includes natural wood detailing throughout, making the space both elegant and cozy.
It also features an in-house art studio, where Karen holds art classes and events.
The construction of the home was a collaborative effort between the group. Karen’s artistic background helped influence the overall design. The D’Allairds originally planned to build an open-air breezeway between the garage and the main house, but with feedback from the team, the D’Allairds decided to add sliding doors to complete the breezeway.
“By placing it within the natural contours of the rolling hills, the design captures a feeling of place like most country homes found in the European countryside,” said Jeffrey Dolan, co-founder and vice president of the company.
