Kennett Area Community Service (KACS), a social service organization in Kennett Square, has had a remarkable impact on their community this last year, writes Richard L. Gaw for Chester County Press.
KACS held an annual meeting on Jan. 29 at Loch Nairn Farm to reflect on the organization’s Annual Impact Report with over two hundred volunteers, staff, and community members in attendance.
It provides supportive services to the greater Kennett community through food donation, increasing safe and accessible housing, crisis intervention services, and community education.
According to the Annual Impact Report, KACS provided $2.2 million in various services throughout the year. Through their food donation services, KACS supported over 6,000 individuals by delivering over 1 million pounds of food.
In the second year of their affordable housing program, it assisted 42 unhoused families in finding stable housing. KACS also continued community education efforts, with over 50 individuals graduating from the organization’s financial literacy workshops.
Throughout the address, CEO Leah Reynolds thanked volunteers while looking to the future, saying to the audience, “You are the heart of KACS, and with your continued partnership we will keep building a stronger, more resilient community for all. Together, we will continue to make meaningful change.”
