Quakertown’s Sabrina Carpenter Scores Spot on USA Today’s Top 10 Songs of 2024

Quakertown native Sabrina Carpenter makes the USA Today's distinguished Top 10 Songs of 2024 list with her hit song, Taste.

Quakertown native Sabrina Carpenter has had an amazing year, highlighted by eight Grammy nominations and most recently her inclusion on USA Today’s Top 10 Songs of 2024, writes Melissa Ruggieri for the Bucks County Courier Times.

Surprisingly, the song that earned her a spot on the distinguished list is not one of her No. 1 hits, Please, Please, Please and Espresso, but instead the single Taste, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard charts.

According to USA Today, while any of Carpenter’s smash hits from her Short n’ Sweet breakthrough album are worthy of accolades, “this revenge tale spiked with a spoon of sugar perfectly personifies Carpenter’s songwriting smarts.”

Carpenter slyly triumphs in a song that blends the breathiness of The Divinyls’ I Touch Myself with the lyrical acid of Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know.

But the top song of the year in the end went to Taylor Swift’s I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, followed by Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! in the second spot, and Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather at No. 3.
