Propell Credit Union’s “Start Local, Spend Local, Save Local” initiative recently joined forces with Fiorenza’s Food for Friends (F4) to highlight the power of community collaboration in addressing food insecurity.
The partnership, which Matteo Iadonisi of 6 ABC covered during a volunteer meal preparation event, underscores how local organizations can inspire meaningful change.
Founded by Derek Fiorenza, F4’s mission is simple yet impactful: rescue, recover, and redistribute surplus food to those in need. Operating across 35 states, F4 has distributed over two million pounds of food, ensuring that surplus meals from restaurants, food drives, and cooking events are delivered to shelters like Safe Harbor in West Chester and Sarnelli House in Philadelphia. Matteo Iadonisi joined the recent volunteer effort, capturing the dedication of F4’s team working with Propell volunteers as they prepared meals for those facing hunger. His report highlighted not only the critical need and the importance of addressing food insecurity but also the spirit of collaboration that makes initiatives like this possible.
Propell’s Start Local, Spend Local, Save Local program was created to shine a spotlight on its business members and their efforts to strengthen the community.
“F4’s mission is exactly why we launched this initiative — to support and amplify the work being done to make our community stronger,” said Gary Golden, CEO of Propell Credit Union. “This isn’t just about economics; it’s about working together to create a better community for everyone.”
Inspired by the success of the 2024 campaign, Propell is expanding its program to partner with more businesses and causes in the coming year. The credit union remains committed to fostering a thriving local business community while championing efforts to address critical issues like childhood hunger.
