Propell Credit Union’s Campaign Encourages Chester County to “Start Local, Spend Local, Save Local”
Small businesses are the backbone of Chester County, and their success relies on the support of the community.
Propell Credit Union’s Start Local, Spend Local, Save Local campaign calls on residents to keep their dollars local by recognizing and supporting the small and medium-sized businesses that drive the region’s economy.
This initiative celebrates the businesses themselves but also the individuals and values that make them essential to Chester County’s identity. By introducing Propell’s business members and partners to the broader community, the campaign underscores how local commerce creates a stronger foundation for families, neighborhoods, and future growth.
Local Businesses with Local Impact
Propell’s business members span a wide range of industries, each contributing uniquely to the community. From family-owned restaurants to nonprofit leaders and merchant services specialists, these small businesses and individuals serve as pillars of connection and opportunity.
Take Taste & Sea Restaurant in Chadds Ford, owned by Chrissy and John Talbot. The couple brings decades of hospitality experience to their scratch kitchen, offering dishes like maple-glazed salmon and deconstructed filet mignon Wellington. Every detail at Taste & Sea reflects their dedication to quality and community.
“Taste & Sea is our way of giving back to the community that has supported us throughout our careers,” Chrissy said. “We want to offer an experience where people can come together over great food and feel at home.”
Through partnerships with Propell, such as dine-and-donate nights, Taste & Sea has strengthened its ties with the community while creating opportunities for residents to connect and support one another.
Leaders Making a Difference
Propell’s campaign also highlights individuals who are making an impact. Take Derek Fiorenza, Founder of Fiorenza’s Food for Friends (F4) and a Propell member. Through food recovery programs, educational initiatives, and meal preparation efforts, F4 has redirected surplus food to those in need, addressing food insecurity in Chester and Delaware counties.
“F4 is about more than food; it’s about fostering a sense of compassion and connection in our communities,” Fiorenza said. His organization partners with local businesses to host food drives, ensuring that collected items directly benefit nearby food pantries and shelters.
Another notable member is Anita Meeks of GlobalPAY, who works with local businesses to streamline payment systems and reduce costs. Meeks’ consultative approach helps Chester County businesses navigate the complexities of merchant services while saving money and improving customer experiences. “It’s all about finding solutions that work for each individual business,” Meeks said.
These members embody the spirit of the Start Local, Spend Local, Save Local campaign, demonstrating how thoughtful efforts can have a lasting impact on the community.
