With Sunday's game between the Eagles and Steelers, some wonder where Josh Shapiro's allegiances lie. He made it clear that he bleeds green.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro isn’t shy about his sports loyalties, writes Gilian McGoldrick for the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Ahead of Sunday’s rare EaglesSteelers matchup in Philadelphia, the Abington resident and self-described sports “fanatic” made it clear: his allegiance lies with the Philadelphia Eagles.

“You cannot bulls— your way through sports,” Shapiro told reporters after a Christmas tree lighting in Harrisburg. “Frankly, Yinzers might not be happy with me on Sunday, but I think they respect the fact you stay true to yourself and honest about your allegiances.”

The rivalry is a statewide cultural divide. Shapiro, a frequent caller to sports radio as “Josh from Juniata,” reiterated his stance on 97.5 The Fanatic. “I can cheer for the Steelers when they’re not playing the Birds, but you’ve got to stay true to your team,” he said.

Shapiro also shared advice for the Eagles: he wants quarterback Jalen Hurts to be more aggressive, wide receiver AJ Brown to address frustrations privately, and fans to vote for Brandon Graham as NFL Man of the Year.

On the phone with Mike Missanelli, Shapiro deflected a question about running for president. He joked that he would make the radio host Secretary of Sports if he was ever elected.
