Chester County Town Named One of the Best Places to Retire by Travel + Leisure
West Chester has been listed as one of the best places to retire in Pennsylvania, writes Katie Seemann for Travel + Leisure.
For many, choosing where to retire to can be a difficult choice. Between housing cost, healthcare options, weather, and social activities, there is a lot to consider.
The town has much to offer retirees being an hour outside of Philadelphia. It provides a quaint, small-town atmosphere while making city amenities accessible. In West Chester, there are plenty of 55+ communities available.
“If you’re considering retiring in Pennsylvania, you’ve got some fantastic options depending on what you’re after,” said Chad Walker, vice president of sales and real estate operations at 55places.com.
Many of the 55+ communities have a plethora of amenities, including private golf courses, heated pools, sports complexes, community centers and more.
West Chester is filled with history, making it a great place to learn and explore. Downtown West Chester is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With West Chester University located in the downtown area, there are many restaurants and shops to try, providing a lively night out.
Outside of the nightlife, West Chester is home to a variety of parks and nature reserves. Natural Lands’ Stroud Preserve features stunning hiking trails, kayaking, and canoeing.
