In the spirit of Halloween, a Chester County teen created a homemade haunted house for a worthy cause, writes Wakisha Bailey for CBS News Philadelphia.
Joe Veneziale, 15, spent months planning his haunted attraction, which is on display in the front yard, backyard, and even in the family’s basement. He calls it the “Veneziale Manor” attraction.
“Usually, it takes us about a month to get completely set up in late September, and then we perfect things up until Halloween night,” Veneziale said.
Throughout the entirety of the Halloween season, the Coatesville teen raises money for a good cause.
“We started collecting for the Spirit of Children, which collects money for Nemours Children’s Hospital. This year we raised $2,200 which is exciting because Spirit Halloween matches that,” he said.
The Veneziale Manor, on display at the family residence, includes an elaborate, spooky light display, a creepy clown emporium in the backyard, and a haunted hotel in the basement.
The haunted attraction will be up until Sunday, and then Veneziale will start to work on his Christmas decor and display, embracing the winter holiday season.
