DCCC Presents Fall Student Theatre Production ‘Airness’
When Nina enters her first air guitar competition, she thinks winning will be easy. But as she befriends a group of charismatic nerds all committed to becoming the next champion, she discovers that there is more to this art form than playing pretend. It is about finding yourself in your favorite songs and performing with raw joy.
That is the premise of the comedy Airness by Playwright Chelsea Marcantel, which Delaware County Community College (DCCC) brings to the stage at the College’s Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media) Nov. 20-23 at 7:00 PM in the Academic Building’s Large Auditorium.
Featuring ’70s and ’80s music classics like Guns N Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell” and Boston’s “More Than a Feeling,” the play is an exuberant story about competition, completion, and finding the “airness” inside yourself.
The student cast features Sam Briggs and Joe Matthews of Havertown, Kayla Frantz of Chichester, Gillian Keener of Aston, Kevin Lara and Javier Villagomez of Kennett Square, David Scanlan of Media, Sean Summerfield of Ardmore, and Ikesseh Zarweh of Lansdowne.
The production is directed by DCCC Professor of Drama Stephen Patrick Smith, MFA, a Barrymore Award winner. Tickets are $15 for general admission and $10 for students (valid school ID required). Find tickets here.
