Alexandra Cherniavsky, a Sommelier, Wine Consultant, and Managing Partner at SWIG Partners recently named a Chester County-based winery in her lineup of favorites, writes Leigh Green for PA Eats.

Every varietal and vintage of wine is different and picking which one to order can be difficult. That’s where Cherniavsky steps in, as she has worked with wine for over 20 years. She has developed award-winning wine programs across the state and served as the PA Wine Ambassador with the Pennsylvania Wine Association.

Cherniavsky pegged the Gruner Veltliner has one of her favorite varietals, especially enjoying the one produced at Wayvine Winery and Vineyard in Nottingham.

“Gruner Veltliner is a great wine to try if you are a Pinot Grigio lover and you want to broaden your horizons,” Cherniavsky said.

Also of note at Wayvine Winery and Vineyard is their Merlot. Merlot is often juicy, with hints of plum throughout its silky-smooth texture. Cherniavsky noted that Merlot is a grape that is “often misaligned but is incredibly enjoyable to drink.”

According to Cherniavsky, Chester County and Pennsylvania as a whole have a delightful lineup of wines to try.
