Here Are Some of the Top Hispanic Eateries in Philadelphia
With Pennsylvania’s Hispanic population increasing significantly in recent years, there has also not been a shortage of great Hispanic cuisine restaurants throughout the eastern part of the state and Philadelphia, writes Kalena Thomhave for The Keystone.
For starters, there’s Bar Bombón. The all-vegan Center City eatery is owned by Nicole Marquis and inspired by her Puerto Rican heritage.
Some menu items include homemade tortillas and traditional margaritas along with “fish” tacos made with hearts of palm and Philly “cheesesteak” empanadas. It’s also not a bad idea to try the expertly-crafted tequila and rum cocktails, and vegan nachos with chorizo spiced “beef.”
In Kensington, you can find Cantina La Martina. This eatery is inspired by owner Dionicio Jimenez and his Mexican heritage. There, you can order fresh, inventive meals like aguachile, seasonal ceviche, and classic chips, salsa, and guacamole.
Juana Tamale is another great option for Hispanic cuisine. Jennifer Zavala’s Mexican restaurant in East Passyunk is the expansion of a tamale pop-up of the same name. There, you will be indulged with a rather large menu featuring breakfast tacos and breakfast burritos, horchata pancakes, birria ramen, vegan tamales, Mexican pizzas, and an array of Mexican comfort food.
