The Ferros opened Main Line Tavern in Paoli this past May, becoming an immediate favorite dining spot across the Main Line.

Phil and Kate Ferro opened Main Line Tavern on May 4 of this year, in the former building of the Great American Pub on King Road in Paoli, writes blank for Savvy Main Line.

The menu, cocktails, happy hours, and ambiance are identical to another restaurant by the Ferro’s: Chadds Ford Tavern. The husband and wife duo also operate King’s Tavern in Coatesville.

Over his extensive career as a chef, Phil has perfected his menu concept. It’s not trendy, it’s comforting.

“We thought the Main Line needed something like this – not pretentious tasting menus, microgreens, and arugula trying to be Center City.”

Kate added, “We have something for everyone: families coming in for sandwiches and couples coming in for date nights ordering $70 steaks and Dom Perignon.”

Across the Tavern, the decor sets up the entire dining experience. The restaurant features dark wood trim, Windsor chairs, and black-and-white photographs of Main Line history.

The Great American Pub was in rough condition when the Ferro’s bought it, but that’s what they love about the restaurant business. They have a knack for turning old, dilapidated buildings into neighborhood staples. The Ferro’s also paid $1.2 million (on top of the original $1.2 million for the restaurant building) for the former BP/Gentle Touch car wash next door, to provide ample parking for their guests.

Main Line Tavern is open daily at noon. Half-off happy hour runs from 4 to 6 PM every day.
