Olszanowski Farm offers a hayride to their pumpkin patch.

The entirety of Pennsylvania is known for its pumpkins, writes Kalena Thomhave for The Keystone. Just last year, the state had 5,800 acres of pumpkin, resulting in 90 million pounds of pumpkin production, according to the state agriculture department.

Picking pumpkins from the local patch supports our nearby farmers and the local agricultural industry. Have some pick-your-own fun at these two nearby pumpkin patches!

At Olszanowski Farm in Spring City, customers can enjoy a 20-minute hayride to the pumpkin patch, which spans acres. There you can begin the search for the perfect pumpkin that is cut right from the vine. All the pumpkins and gourds are $0.80 per pound and the long, enjoyable hayride is $3. The farm is open on the weekends until Halloween

Mast Farms in nearby Morgantown is in the Conestoga Valley, stretching across Pennsylvania’s Dutch Country. The farm features 40 acres of pumpkins, which come in a variety of colors, species, and sizes. The largest pumpkins on the farm are upwards of 80 pounds. Don’t need such a size? The pumpkins are also as small as three pounds.

Apart from pumpkins, the farm has a variety of fall activities, such as hayrides and corn mazes. Mast Farms is open on Fridays and Saturdays until Nov. 9.
