American Community Journals (ACJ) is searching for a Social Media Director to lead our social media efforts and drive digital growth.
About American Community Journals
At ACJ, we share stories that celebrate the Philadelphia area and its surrounding communities. Our 350,000 subscribers and social media followers depend on us for content that resonates with them. We strive to highlight the best aspects of life in the Delaware Valley, from inspiring individuals to exciting local businesses, and we need a social media expert to take that vision to new heights.
What You’ll Do
As the Social Media Director, you’ll take charge of our presence on key platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, while also keeping an eye on others like X, TikTok, and Reddit. Your role goes beyond posting—you’ll craft and lead a strategy that captivates our audience, drives engagement, and amplifies ACJ’s visibility across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Craft Powerful Social Media Strategies: Work with our 100-plus affiliate partners to develop and implement strategies that drive engagement and attract more followers across multiple platforms.
- Content Creation: You’ll oversee and coordinate the creation of daily content — from texts and images to videos — ensuring every post aligns with our brand and upbeat voice.
- Engage with the Community: This role involves fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment across all social channels. You’ll respond to comments, messages, and community interactions in a way that builds trust and keeps the conversation going.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Regularly analyze social media metrics using Google Analytics and other tools, and use those insights to refine our strategies and improve reach.
- Stay on Top of Trends: Social media is always changing, and we need someone who can keep us ahead of the curve with emerging tools and best practices.
- Collaborate Across Teams: You’ll work closely with editorial, marketing, and affiliate partner teams to ensure everything we publish is aligned with broader content strategies and marketing goals.
- Manage Paid Campaigns: You’ll plan and execute paid social media campaigns to amplify our affiliate partners’ campaigns and meet broader marketing objectives.
- Build a Social Media Practice: Create and shape our own social media practice, developing innovative strategies that set us apart in the local media space.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: You have 3-5 years of experience in social media management, ideally with your own firm or within the Delaware Valley’s media or digital publishing world.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- Skills: Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills, paired with proficiency in tools like WordPress, EchoBox, or Sprout Social. Experience with social media advertising is a plus.
- Mindset: You’re both creative and analytical, a strategic thinker who’s always data-driven.
- Passion: Most of all, you’re excited about local news and community engagement. You understand how much stories matter in building communities.
Perks:
- Work Remotely: You can work from anywhere in the Delaware Valley with flexible hours.
- Professional Growth: Join a dynamic, mission-driven environment where your role will make a direct impact on our growth.
- Competitive Pay: We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.
