Flakely’s Pastry ATM Offers Ardmore Gluten Free Greatness On the Go
Manayunk’s Flakely Gluten Free Bakery brings their ‘pastry ATM’ to Ardmore, reports Franki Rudnesky for the Philly Voice.
The pastry ATM is the second of its kind from Flakely. The first opened in June at the Italian Market’s Salt & Vinegar Store in South Philadelphia.
Like the original, Ardmore’s machine will sell all of Flakely’s greatest hits including frozen croissants, bagels, and pop tarts. The machine works with microchip technology. When a customer taps their credit card, they can access the freezer and any item that is removed will be charged to their card.
Lila Colello is a pastry chef diagnosed with celiac disease. She opened Flakely in 2021 in Manayunk to offer customers gluten-free pastry alternatives. Last Wednesday, USA Today named Flakely the number 5 best gluten free bakery in the country according to a reader vote.
“This award means the world to me,” Colello said. “And not just to say that I won something, but as a reminder that what we’re doing really matters to the community.”
The pastry ATM will open this fall at the Free Will Collective in Ardmore.
