Five Below Expands into King of Prussia Amid Challenges
While some retailers move away from brick-and-mortar, others expand. King of Prussia welcomes a new Five Below retail space, reports Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The new store will move into retail space on 224 W. DeKalb Pike formerly occupied by Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Trader Joe’s will share a portion of the lot. Five Below already one location in KOP.
Five Below’s other store is at 640 W. DeKalb. Other stores in the area include one in Wayne and another in East Norriton.
The low-cost retailer offers consumer electronics, toys, and clothing at $5 and under target price.
The new King of Prussia store is one of a planned 240 new stores to open in 2024. Interim CEO Joel Anderson announced plans for aggressive growth with a goal of 3,500 stores by 2030.
The plans to expand the retailer’s footprint comes as the company combats pricing and theft challenges. Five Below’s stock has dropped 61 percent year-to-date.
