September Events at Chester County Hospital: Virtual Workshops on Baby Safety, Childbirth, and More
Chester County Hospital is launching into the fall season with a full roster of online, educational workshops, ranging from childbirth to atrial fibrillation to recovery and beyond.

Sept. 18: Baby Safety Basics
September is Baby Safety Month! Parents and caregivers have many responsibilities, but keeping baby safe and healthy is number one. Celebrate Baby Safety Month by increasing your confidence in Basic First Aid, CPR, and injury prevention for infants and young children. This class is open to parents, grandparents, caregivers, or anyone who wants to learn what to do in an emergency.
Presenter: Tammy Johnson, Education Coordinator, Good Fellowship EMS Training Institute.
Fee: Free.
Please note: This will be a virtual, online presentation offered through Zoom. Registrants will receive a direct link via email to join the class along with instructions on how to download and participate through the online platform. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions through their computer or smart device’s video camera, or microphone or through the platform’s chat function. Video is not required.

Sept. 19: Atrial Fibrillation Update
Atrial fibrillation is the most common cardiac arrhythmia. Learn about state-of-the-art treatments available for atrial fibrillation and get all your questions answered by experts in the field. This presentation is free.

Sept. 23, 7:30-9:30 PM: Childbirth Refresher
This one-session class is offered for couples who have previously experienced the birth process and who would like a review tailored to their individual needs. This small group class includes a review of the stages of labor, the role of the coach, breathing and relaxation techniques, medication options, and sibling adjustment. A virtual tour of the maternity unit is included with this class. The class is best taken during the seventh month of pregnancy.
Special Instructions: Couples should wear comfortable clothing to practice relaxation and breathing. Class will start promptly at the designated time.
Fee: $40.00/couple.

Sept. 24, 12-1:00 PM: Voices of Recovery
Hear the stories of individuals currently in recovery from a substance use disorder. Learn about their path to recovery and how they maintain their sobriety. There will be time for questions and discussion about the recovery process. Members from the community and healthcare professionals are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion. This event is free.

Sept. 25, 7:30-9:00 PM: Pumping and Returning to Work
This 90-minute class is designed for women who have already attended the Prenatal Breastfeeding class and want more information on pumping breast milk and returning to work. Clients may attend the class prenatally (support person welcome) or in the first month postpartum (infants welcome).
Topics covered include: different types of breast pumps, insurance coverage for pumps, when to start pumping, milk storage guidelines, transitioning to a bottle, establishing a pumping schedule, and women’s right to breastfeed in public and express breast milk while at work. Information on community resources for the support of continued breastfeeding will be given as well.
Prenatal Breastfeeding Class is not a firm prerequisite; it is just encouraged.
