Vanguard Group’s New CEO Salim Ramji Taps First Major Hire for Legal Division
Vanguard Group’s new CEO Salim Ramji has tapped KPMG executive Tonya Robinson for the position of general counsel and managing director of the firm’s legal division, making it his first major hire since he took the helm of the investment management giant in July, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Robinson, who will join Malvern-based Vanguard in October, is replacing Anne Robinson, who left last month to become chief legal officer at IBM.
She served as KPMG’s vice chair and general counsel for legal, regulatory, and compliance for the last seven years. Before that, she held the position of the acting general counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
At the investment giant, Robinson will be responsible for legal and compliance activities, public policy, and investment stewardship. Additionally, she will serve as secretary of both Vanguard’s board of directors and the Vanguard funds.
“Tonya is an accomplished lawyer and trusted business leader who brings extensive experience in the public and private sectors,” said Ramji.
