The Wardrobe in Exton Expands Services to Combat Clothing Insecurity, Support Financial Independence
The Wardrobe is a local nonprofit that focuses on eliminating clothing insecurity and promoting financial independence through providing free and affordable clothing, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6ABC.
They help people who need higher-quality clothing for job interviews or special occasions, and those who need clothing in general. That way they can spend their money on other necessities and cross one worry off the list. Some people can receive their items for free depending on their needs.
“We’re a social enterprise nonprofit that provides people with all the clothing they need to get forward in their lives,” said Sheri Cole, Executive Director for The Wardrobe.
Originally known as Wings for Success, it merged with The Wardrobe to expand its services and reach a broader community. They have a newer location in the Exton Square Mall. The merger has expanded The Wardrobe’s impact, providing over 200,000 pounds of clothing annually and serving thousands of people across the Philadelphia region.
Cole related it to a food bank model, but with clothes.
The Wardrobe accepts clothing donations and offers resale shopping to support its programs. The organization also offers education and coaching services to help individuals transition to employment and improve their financial stability.
“We’re sort of filling that gap for people who are living at or near poverty, or just need help,” said Cole.
