Montco Congresswoman Madeleine Dean was appointed to a task force investigating the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

House Speaker Mike Johnson and Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appoint Montco’s Madeleine Dean to the probe into the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, write Katie Bernard and Rob Tornoe for the Philadelphia Inquirer

Democratic Congresswoman and Glenside native Dean has joined the task force along with 13 other lawmakers, including two more from Pennsylvania: Republican Rep Mike Kelly and Democratic Rep Chrissy Houlahan. Kelly represents Butler County where the assassination attempt took place.

This bipartisan group plans to visit the site of the rally as part of the investigation as well as look at the Secret Service’s budget and other resources allocated to them.

The task force is expected to deliver a final report by Dec. 13.

Speaker Johnson and Minority Leader Jeffries released a joint statement that they were confident in the group’s ability to “find the facts, ensure accountability and help make certain such failures never happen again.”

Dean has represented Montco in Congress since 2019. Prior to her election, there were no women in Congress representing Pennsylvania and she cites this among her inspirations to run for election.
