Two Cheeses From Chester County Farm Listed as Highest Quality Cheeses in America
The Farm at Doe Run in Chester County has two cheeses that made the ‘15 Highest Quality Cheeses in America’ List, writes Minal Zaheer for Insider Monkey.
The Farm at Doe Run, located in Unionville, is an award-winning creamery that sets its focus on simple, sustainable farming. Their cows, goats, and sheep are raised humanely on the beautiful pastures in the county.
Their milk is received completely from within the farm; from their three milking herds.
The first winning cheese is ‘Hickory on the Hill,’ one of the many cheeses the farm makes. The bright, aromatic cheese has had different batches, with some washed in Bluebird Distilling’s Rye Whiskey, Wayvine’s Sauvignon Blanc, and Plain Brine, which is the batch that won the award.
The Creamery Collection Batch #17 also made the list of the highest-quality cheeses. The cheese is blended with 80 percent goat’s milk and 20 percent cow’s milk, hand-crafted right there on the farm.
The cheese is aged over 11 months and ends the process with a sweet caramel taste.
