The Ultimate Guide to Lancaster’s Farm Adventure and Wheels & Waterways Trails
As fall approaches Lancaster County, visitors have the chance to explore its beauty and culture through two unique trails: the Farm Adventure Trail and the Wheels & Waterways Trail.
These free, mobile-based, interactive experiences allow participants to immerse themselves in the county’s offerings while supporting local businesses and conservation efforts.
Farm Adventure Trail: Celebrating Agritourism and Local Flavors
Running from May 1 to November 3, the Farm Adventure Trail is an agritourism delight.
This trail features around 30 stops, including farm-to-table restaurants, roadside stands, farm-themed attractions, vineyards, and orchards.
Participants can explore local favorites like Plough restaurant, Lancaster Central Market, and Cherry Crest Adventure Farm.
The trail offers visitors exclusive deals and discounts at each stop, encouraging them to explore the county’s diverse businesses.
As participants check in at these locations using a mobile passport, they earn points towards exciting prizes such as branded keychains, water bottles, and tote bags.
These prizes can be redeemed at the Discover Lancaster Visitors Center.
An optional donation to the Lancaster Farmland Trust is available for those who wish to support the preservation of Lancaster County’s beautiful farmland.
Wheels & Waterways Trail: Adventure and Conservation Meet
Launched on June 15 and running through June 1 of next year, the Wheels & Waterways Trail is a newer addition designed for those who love outdoor adventures and exploring Lancaster County’s natural beauty.
“There’s a huge number of ways to experience the county, and we thought this was a great way to bring it together,” said Joel Cliff, the Director of Communications and Advocacy for Discover Lancaster.
This trail highlights attractions that focus on movement and transportation, offering a wide variety of experiences that range from historical to adrenaline-pumping.
Participants can enjoy activities such as buggy rides, hot air balloon flights, and ziplining.
Some of the most popular stops include the Strasburg Rail Road, Lancaster Balloon Rides, and kayaking on the Susquehanna River, as well as resting from all this activity at the transportation-themed Fulton Steamboat Inn.
Like the Farm Adventure Trail, this experience is also entirely free and operates through a mobile passport system. Visitors can check in at various attractions to unlock deals, earn points, and redeem them at Discover Lancaster for themed prizes.
In line with Lancaster County’s commitment to smart development, the Wheels & Waterways Trail also encourages an optional donation to the Lancaster Conservancy.
