A Delaware County couple is using their entrepreneurial skills to create places where children of all abilities can feel safe and express themselves, writes Madeleine Wright for CBS News Philadelphia.

Jennifer Briddes and her wife, Bonnie Stritzinger, own A Flick of the Wrist in Malvern.

“The art is accessible for everyone here,” Briddes said.

Kids do splatter art in a weekly summer class and there are sensory classes for children with autism and ADHD.

Briddes’ was inspired to create the art studio out of her own experience raising her son Xander, who has autism.

She was uncomfortable taking him to crowded places, unsure how he would react, so she wanted a place where all would feel safe and welcome.

“Even if your child doesn’t want to participate, or they don’t feel comfortable participating, or they have a fit or they have a meltdown, they’re still accepted here,” Briddes said.

The couple recently competed in “The Blox,” a reality TV show for entrepreneurs that will air next year on Amazon.

With help from mentors on the show, they hope to continue growing their business to serve more children with disabilities.
