Community members gathered at The Crossing Church on Monday to honor seven individuals who tragically lost their lives in last year’s devastating flash flood in Upper Makefield, reports Leland Pinder for 6 ABC Philadelphia.  

The memorial aimed to provide comfort and solidarity to the grieving families. 

Among the victims were 2-year-old Matilda and 9-month-old Conrad, grandchildren of Paul Sheils, along with their mother, Katie. Conrad’s body was never recovered. 

Sheils expressed the deep sorrow shared by all affected families, stating, “None of us will ever fully understand or forget the unfathomable tragedy.” 

Zack DiPiero, who lost his parents, Enzo and Linda, shared poignant memories of their time together since moving back to Pennsylvania in 2016 and welcomed his daughter, their first grandchild in 2019. “We had four awesome years together, and I’m very grateful for that,” he said. 

Dave Love also paid tribute to his wife, Yuko, speaking both in Japanese and English. His emotional words highlighted his enduring love and regret for not being able to protect her. 

Plans for memorial gardens at The Crossing Church and Brownsburg Park are underway.
