Paoli Student Headed Straight from Community College to Ivy League with Full Tuition Scholarship

Paoli's Chloe Johnson earns a full-tuition scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Paoli student Chloe Johnson has earned a full-tuition scholarship to attend the University of Pennsylvania, where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree, according to a staff report from The Daily Local News

Johnson was working full-time when she got her associate degree in Business Administration from Delaware County Community College in May.

However after dedicating ten years to a culinary career, Johnson found herself at a crossroads a year and a half ago.

“I decided to take the chance to pursue new goals and revisit shelved dreams,” she said.

Her strong academic record landed Johnson an invitation to join DCCC’s Beta Psi Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, which is the international honor society for two-year colleges. The award was accompanied by an offer to attend one of the ten Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education universities for two years tuition-free.

She decided to explore all the transfer scholarship opportunities and Johnson applied to and was accepted there. This month she learned she had been awarded the University of Pennsylvania’s Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship.

“I was able to transfer the maximum amount of credits, which is 50 percent of the degree requirements,” she said.
