Make-A-Wish Foundation gifted an epic new playground to a brave Oxford girl born without a ribcage who continues to defy the odds, writes Kelly Rule for FOX 29 Philadelphia.

Four-year-old London Thompson has Cerebrocostomandibular Syndrome. When she was born, an X-ray showed that she did not have a ribcage. However, now her ribcage has started forming, said her mother, Kristy Thompson.

According to the her doctor at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, there have only been around 90 cases of CCMS described in medical literature ever, and only three of them were similar to London. All three patients died shortly after birth.

London needs to be on a ventilator at all times, but that could change. She can now pull herself up on her knees and is also starting to show signs that she could walk in the future.

The new playground will provide her with many benefits.

“We’re in this medical room 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so it gives us that outlet for our mental health,” said Thompson. “It normalizes and it teaches the kids in the neighborhood, that, ‘Hey she can play too.’”
