Not surprisingly, the largest number of flights out of Philadelphia International Airport in 2023 were heading to Orlando, Florida, home of Disney World and Universal Studios Florida, writes Todd Romero, data reporter for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

 Data from Cirium shows that 6,174 flights took off from PHL for Orlando International Airport in 2023. That’s up 10.96 percent over 2022.

The number of passengers for Orlando was also up 9 percent for 2023 over the previous year, with 1,177,778 flight seats taken.

The second most visited airport out of Philadelphia in 2023 was Hatsfield-Jackson-Atlanta International Airport, with 5,818 flights departing for that destination.

The third spot went to Boston Logan International Airport, with 4,549 flights.

Chicago O’Hare was fourth, with 4,083 flights, while Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina came in fifth, at 3,468 flights.

Of the top 25 destination airports in the Cirium data, 20 had increases in the number of flights coming out of PHL in 2023 compared to 2022, with Ronald Reagan International Airport in Washington DC showing the largest uptick at 25 percent.

Southwest Florida International Airport had the biggest decline out of PHL, with flights down 7.69 percent in 2023.
