The Susquehanna National Heritage Area welcomes the summer season with its enchanting Chief Uncas boat tours.

From June through October, these tours offer a unique and historic way to explore the scenic beauty and rich history of the Susquehanna River.

Unveiling the Chief Uncas Experience

The Chief Uncas, a stunning 55-foot antique wooden boat built in 1912 for beer tycoon Adolphus Busch, is now an emblem of eco-friendly travel, powered entirely by electricity.

“This is the best of both worlds,” says Hope Byers, the Vice President of Visitor Engagement of the Susquehanna National Heritage Area.

The electric-powered boat gives tourists a cruising speed to provide a nice breeze while also allowing for a quiet environment to admire the Susquehanna River.

Acquired by the Susquehanna National Heritage Area three seasons ago, this historic vessel continues to captivate visitors.
