Megan Boni, a Bryn Mawr native and famous TikToker known as Girl On Couch, did not realize how much her life would change after she posted a silly video on the popular platform, writes Victor Fiorillo for the Philadelphia Magazine.

At the time, she was working in sales and spent most of her free time on her couch browsing TikTok — hence her moniker.

“And then I decided to do a TikTok video making fun of girls who complain about being single but have a huge list of needs,” she said. “As the video says, all I’m asking for is a man in finance with a trust fund, six-five, blue eyes. It quickly got tens of millions of views and will get many, many more.”

The video’s success surprised her and changed the trajectory of her life. She got a music deal with Universal for a ten-second song that came with a paycheck so large she decided to quit her corporate job.

“I’ve gotten all kinds of brand deals, like Tinder just paid me handsomely for 15 seconds of me in a hoodie,” said Boni.
