Lower Merion’s Lizzy McAlpine to Return Home for Two Shows at Met Phill

Lizzy McAlpine, the singer behind 'Ceilings', is returning home for two shows at the Met Philly for her new album.

Lower Merion native Lizzy McAlpine, the singer behind the viral hit “Ceilings”, is returning home next week for two shows at the Met Philly in support of her new album, Older, writes Dan DeLuca for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

McAlpine, who grew up in Wynnewood, Narberth, and Merion Station, first came to the attention of Philadelphia audiences with the quietly emotive songs on her debut album Give Me A Minute, which she released in 2020.

Over the following months, she played at the Theatre of Living Arts and opened for English songwriter Dodie at the Fillmore. She later headlined the venue herself. In 2023, she opened for Coldplay at Lincoln Financial Field.

Now based in Los Angeles, McAlpine will present her new album to Philadelphia audiences on Monday and Tuesday at the 3,400-capacity Met.

“With every record, I’m trying to get closer to who I am,” said the singer. “This album — and the song “Older” in particular — is the closest I’ve gotten so far. Now I look back on my first album especially and see I was so naive, I didn’t really know anything about love.”
