The experience of going to summer camp is one that all children should have access to. This summer, your savings can be the key to unlocking this formative experience for children and young adults with disabilities.

Firstrust Bank has launched “Make Camp Happen,” a summer-long promotion with Variety — The Children’s Charity of Delaware Valley’s ACA-accredited summer camp program for local families and children with disabilities.

“Summer camp fosters personal growth, builds lasting friendships, and cultivates essential life skills in a fun and active environment, and Firstrust is dedicated to expanding access for children and young adults with disabilities to have their own summer-camp experiences,” said Tim Abell, CEO and President of Firstrust Bank. “Every day, Variety makes a difference for families in our region, and it’s an honor to support its programming through our banking promotions and customer-donation matching.”

Now through July 31, Firstrust will donate $25 for all new checking accounts, Certificates of Deposit (CDs), and home equity lines of credit opened. These donations will assist Variety in creating an enriching summer camp experience for kids with disabilities. Firstrust customers can also donate directly to Variety at any local Firstrust Bank branch through July 31, with Firstrust matching donations up to $5,000.

Variety’s summer camp takes place each year in Worcester and at a satellite campus at Temple University. Campers ages 5-21 can experience day camp featuring fun, educational, and accessible activities such as swimming, baseball, basketball, and arts and crafts specifically designed for children with intellectual and physical disabilities.

The “Make Camp Happen” promotion is just one piece of the bank’s longstanding relationship with Variety, which also includes career skills development, sponsorships, and event volunteer support.

At the end of the summer, Firstrust employees will volunteer at Variety’s annual Annie Madden Sunshine Games, an event that gives Variety campers a full day to enjoy activities and games in an Olympic-style setting.
